No drop-ins until January 4. 2025. Happy holidays!
This is a great introduction to Einstein’s Workshop and Maker culture. There will be a new topic every eight week quarter.Q1 – Fun With Things that Fly
Ready, set, take off! From paper airplanes to rockets, we’ll make all sorts of flying inventions while exploring aerodynamics and how things move through the air. Students make, test, and reinvent catapults, kites, parachutes, and more as we explore the laws of physics and the forces that keep objects afloat. Lessons will be just “plane” fun!
Q2 – Advanced LEGO Robotics
Take LEGO robotics to the next level! Learn how to build simple machines with motorized parts such as winches, pulleys, drive trains, and more! Add sensors and program your creations to respond to their environment. Students work together to design a machine to meet the challenge of the day! No previous LEGO experience required.
Q3 – Handmade Robots and Upcycled Machines
Have you ever wanted to make your own robot? We’ll teach you how to make all the moving parts! Students learn about mechanics and motion using everyday materials, electric components, engineering, creativity, and problem solving. Build a hydraulic arm, an electric car, the “Big Hand,” and much more!
Q4 – Computer Art and Making Things
Modern “making” is so much more than just working with our hands. Using computers and technology, we can make anything look cool! Learn computer art and design programs to make awesome images and art. Then apply what you learned to make cool and useful objects on our laser cutter or 3D printer that you get to take home! (Students that have previously taken Computer Art and Making Things will see new content.)
Note for students who took this concentration last year:
This concentration runs on a two year cycle with different versions from one year to the next. Students that join this concentration two years in a row will see different material in their second year.
We believe that learning is at its best when kids are excited, having fun, and exploring with other kids. Our classes encourage students to teach each other and learn together. Our lessons help students explore, grow, and gain confidence in STEAM topics. Our students gain the ability to navigate and succeed in our increasingly tech-driven society.
Our curriculum consists of unique activities designed to teach, challenge and allow for creative exploration.
Our classes span multiple STEAM categories, encouraging students to combine learning and techniques from many disciplines in ways they don’t usually encounter in school.
