Course Description

Take LEGO robotics to the next level! Students learn how to build simple machines with motorized parts such as winches, pulleys, drive trains, and more! Add sensors and program your creations to respond to their environment. Students work together to design machines to meet the challenge of the day! No previous LEGO experience required. Put your new skills to work as part of a FIRST LEGO League Explore team (formerly called Jr. FIRST LEGO League)! Expand your LEGO Robotics skills while exploring a cool science challenge. In FIRST LEGO League Explore, students work on three components as a team:
1. Research the chosen challenge subject guided by our instructors.
2. Create motorized LEGO creations to show how to solve the challenge.
3. Create a poster showing their solution.
All while hanging out with friends and having fun learning! At the end of the FLL season, teams present at an FLL Explore Festival where they celebrate their hard work with family, friends, the public and other Massachusetts teams.Finish the school year honing your LEGO Master Model Builder skills! Learn
insider tips and building techniques like interlocking bricks, SNOT (Studs Not On Top), SNIR (Studs Not In a Row), and NPU (Nice Piece Use). We will focus on students creating MOCs (My Own Creations) that utilize new techniques each class. Upon completion, students will receive a LEGO Master Builder certificate acknowledging their new skills. If students are interested, the final class session may include a timed challenge a la LEGO Masters!
* This concentration is repeatable and will have different content from the 2023-2024 school year.
