Become a Mentor In Training at Einstein's Workshop
Our Mentor In Training (MIT) program is designed to help 13-15 year old fans of Einstein’s Workshop learn and enhance skills that will serve them well in adult life. It will also give them a head start if they are interested in working as a Mentor at Einstein’s Workshop in the future. MITs will be taught and get ample opportunity to practice the following valuable skills:
- Leadership
- Team building
- Working with children
- Effective communication
- Problem solving
- Classroom management
- Interview skills
MITs go through an application process similar to the Einstein’s Workshop Mentor application process so they can learn how to ace an interview! MITs help Teachers and Mentors in camps, practicing all the necessary skills to work with kids and be an effective teacher’s assistant. As a bonus, MITs get this experience for only 75% the standard price of an Einstein’s Workshop summer camp!
MITs responsibilities include:
- Helping younger/less experienced students with projects
- Demonstrating activities
- Problem solving and trouble shooting
- Technology setup and use
- Helping to supervise snacks and games
- Organizing classroom materials
MITs will never be left alone in charge of campers or given any medical responsibilities.
Because we are serious about training MITs in a variety of situations, applicants must commit to being an MIT for at least three half day weeks. These can be mornings, afternoons, or both and do not need to be consecutive.
